Murder investigation launched after body found in search for missing Seyed Khan in East London
A murder investigation has been launched after a body was discovered by officers searching for a missing man in an East London cemetery. Seyed Khan, from Thamesmead in South East London was reported missing from his place of work on the 24th January. Police appealed to the public for information regarding Mr Khan’s whereabouts, stating their grave concern for his welfare as his disappearance was out of character. Mr Khan was last seen at his place of work, A-Z Carpets in Ilford High Road at about 17:00 on January 24th. Mr Khan was not seen since after leaving the store to take a phone call.
On Wednesday, police discovered a body in nearby Ilford Cemetery. Formal identification has yet to take place of the body but the family of Mr Khan have been made aware of the discovery by officers investigating the case. A post-mortem inquiry is due to take place. The cause of death is not known but it is believed that the dead man died of massive head injuries. A murder inquiry is now underway and police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the case.
