Man charged with the murder of Colombian and Spanish nationals in South London
A man has been charged over a double murder which occurred ten years ago in South London. Colombian national Carlos Ayala-Cormona, 28 and Ruben Furente aged 30 were found murdered in June 2007. The two men were found with stab wounds in a block of flats in Muller Road in Clapham, South West London. Gonzalo Andres Gomez Remolina, 35 has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court today (Friday.)
2007 was a particularly bad year for homicides in the capital, 163 people were murdered in the capital that year. The borough of Lambeth where these murders occurred saw 24 people killed that year, making it the most dangerous area of the capital at the time.
New figures released by the Met have shown rises in violent crime and homicides in the capital last year. Although we are not at the same levels of violent crime that was witnessed back in the mid 2000’s, the 130 people killed in the capital last year represents the highest number of deaths in 7 years.
