President Trump addresses March for Life participants via satellite
President Trump has become the first sitting president to address the anti-abortion March for Life rally in Washington D.C. The 45th president addressed the 45th march via satellite in a speech from the Rose garden at 12:30pm today. The annual march is held on or around the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade ruling which was issued by the US Supreme Court in 1974 which decriminalized abortion.
VP Mike Pence introduced the president to the podium, saying that 45 years ago the “United States Supreme Court turned its back on the right to life” which had been handed down by their forefathers. He went on to add that America had nominated the most pro-life president in the form of Donald Trump. VP Pence then praised the marchers for their activism saying “their prayers were saving lives.” The marchers, watching Mike Pence via satellite applauded his comments.
Donald Trump said “We have tens of thousands of people watching this down the road.” He went on to thank Mike Pence for his introduction. Donald Trump said he was honoured and proud to be able to be the first president to address the 45th march for life. Trump then said that the March for life was a movement built out of love, adding that every child was a “precious gift from god.”
He said that because of the pro-life marchers tens of thousands of American’s had been born and went on to live good lives, adding that “love saves lives.” He said Roe vs. Wade had brought about some of the most permissive abortion laws in the world, saying that the only other nations that had such laws were nations such as China and North Korea. He went on to say it was wrong that abortions could be performed in the 9th month of pregnancy. He said his administration would be determined to protecting the right to life.
Trump then spoke about how proud he was that on the National Day of Prayer he signed an executive order protecting the freedom of religion. During the short speech, Trump applauded a woman named Mariana of the Room at the Inn organization, which provides services to young mothers. Trump concluded his address by thanking the March for Life participants saying they were “special, special people,” He then finished with the trademark line “God Bless You and God Bless America.”
