Woman kidnapped and gang-raped in broad daylight Essex attack
A woman in her 30’s was raped by 3 men in an Essex cemetery after being “taken into a car” by a man. The woman was approached by a man near Clacton-on-Sea on Sunday afternoon (January 14) when he took her into his car. Some reports have claimed that the woman was forcefully taken into the car although this fact remains unclear. The woman was then driven for 5 miles to St Osyth Cemetery in Clay Lane where two other men were at the scene. She was then raped by the 3 men at the location at between 3pm and 4pm. The woman is currently being supported by specialist officers from Essex police and forensic enquiries are taking place around the area.
Detective Inspector Greg Wood, of Essex Police’s Public Protection Investigation Unit, said: “We are continuing to make extensive enquiries into this serious offence, including house to house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage. He then went onto say: “We are currently treating this as an isolated incident but we understand the community will be concerned and we have increased our patrols in Jackson Road and the Clay Lane areas as a result.” No descriptions of the attackers involved have been released by the police thus far.
