Presidential candidate Oprah? Here’s a few things she might not want you to know
After receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award at last Sunday’s nauseating Golden Globe’s Oprah Winfrey stood up to give a speech which has raised speculations that she might be considering a potential run at the White House in 2020. The speech which contained the usual left-wing talking points these days about race, the supposed attack on the press and gender roles has been praised by many as “powerful and inspiring.” Even Ivanka Trump praised the speech afterwards.
I have to be honest that Oprah Winfrey’s life story is remarkable and I do respect what she has achieved for herself in life. Born to a poor teenage single mother, living in rural poverty then in the inner city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Abused as a child by her uncle and cousin, she went on to make a billion dollar fortune for herself. Everybody loves the story of the underdog. But after Sunday’s speech if you listened to those on the left you might think that she is the second coming of Christ (If they didn’t hate Christians so much.) That is certainly not the case. Oprah Winfrey has her own questionable moments in her past.
For a woman who talks about race so much, her views are not so far removed from most of the modern left. Back in 2013 while giving an interview to the BBC, Oprah Winfrey gave a subtle yet disturbing insight into her frame of mind. In the interview she said there were “generations of people who were just born and bred and marinaded in it (racism) and they just have to die.” Oprah is clearly referring to older white people when she says this. First of all I would just like to make the point, while I would find the views of certain people from the 60’s for example do not correspond with my world beliefs today, I certainly wouldn’t wish death on them.
Also to mention, somebody like Oprah would be the first person to argue about somebody racially stereotyping. Because of the dropping of her mask in this interview would she look at an older white person as if they are all the same? My dad is in his 70’s and grew up in the generation she is referring to and he doesn’t have a racist bone in his body. But just because he is an older white man does that mean that Oprah would look at him and think he deserves death because of her preconceived judgements? Many on the left have said Donald Trump has said some “racist” things. I have never heard him call for the death of an entire racial subset. No matter how the left would try to frame this Oprah interview, this is an extremely shocking insight into the mind of this woman.
Oprah Winfrey has also had some pretty questionable friends and associates for a woman who is such a supporter of the #MeToo movement. Oprah Winfrey has been close for years to none other than. . .you guessed it Harvey Weinstein. Pictures have emerged over the last couple of days showing Harvey Weinstein (a huge donor for the Democrats) and Oprah Winfrey (a huge supporter of Barack Obama) laughing and joking together. In one of the pictures Oprah is even kissing Harvey Weinstein on the cheek. British singer Seal received some backlash for posting a meme on Facebook accusing Oprah of being a hypocrite for her stance on sexual assault now and her previous closeness to Harvey Weinstein. And for any crazy leftists who wish to make it into a race thing I would just like to mention for the record Seal is himself black.
Oprah has been caught up in a sexual assault of her own. A very disturbing one. Oprah Winfrey opened the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Henley-on-Klip, south of Johannesburg in South Africa. Winfrey teaches a class herself at the school by satellite. But standards in the school began to dramatically slip and back in 2007 one of the matrons at the school allegedly abused one of the pupils. There were also numerous allegations of physical abuse directed towards the students. Oprah flew back to the school after the allegations broke to “beg the parents for forgiveness.”
After Oprah Winfrey’s Sunday speech the whole of the left-wing establishment were acting like they had found their messiah. NBC even went on to send out a tweet declaring Oprah to be the next president of the United States (what, like they said Hillary would be!) But Oprah Winfrey is not as clean cut as many think. These revelations about her controversial interview in 2013 to the BBC show that there is a degree of nastiness beneath her exterior. Oprah Winfrey also has some questionable monetary beliefs. For a woman who should be an advocate of capitalism, a woman who came from nothing to build a billion dollar business, she does seem to have a great love of socialism. In the past she has supported socialists such as Evangelical Church Pastor Rob Bell and Barack Obama, a man who thought that Americans were better off on food stamps than working for a better life and trying to climb to the top. Just a little bit of digging shows that Oprah has some skeletons of her own in her closet, so NBC, I wouldn’t go getting ahead of yourself quite yet.
