Murder probe after man attacked in London’s Trafalgar Square

A man who was attacked last year in London’s Trafalgar Square has died in hospital, prompting a murder inquiry. Desmond O’ Bernie suffered serious head injuries after being savagely beaten at London’s famous landmark on June 3rd last year. Sadly he never recovered and has subsequently passed from his injuries.

London has been battling a surge in violent crime over the past year, seeing huge increases in gun and knife crime. 87 people were stabbed to death in London last year and since the New Year there has already been 9 murders in the capital along with a string of other violent incidents.

On Thursday night, young male model Harry Uzoka was stabbed to death in what is believed to have been a street robbery gone wrong in Old Oak Road, East Acton. Police and paramedics were called to the location at roughly 4pm where they found Mr Uzoka suffering from a knife wound to the chest. Paramedics battled to save his life but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Two men have since been arrested by police investigating this murder.

That same night a man was injured after a shooting in Lordship Lane, Tottenham in North London. Police were called to the scene where they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. It is believed that a “number of shots” were fired during the incident. Earlier in the week, 2 men were stabbed to death at different locations across the city. A 34-year old man died after being stabbed in Stoke Newington, East London and an 18-year-old man died after a stabbing in Chislehurst, South London. On Wednesday night a 19-year-old man was stabbed in a separate incident in Stoke Newington during a brawl in which gunshots were fired. The young man is fighting for his life in hospital after receiving serious injuries.
