19-year-old man fighting for his life after yet another London stabbing
A 19-year-old man is fighting for his life today in hospital after a brawl in East London which saw gunshots fired. Armed police descended on Lordship Road, Stoke Newington after neighbours reported hearing gunshots. The altercation between 2 groups of men took place at roughly 7pm last night (Wednesday.) On arrival police found the injured 19-year-old where he was rushed to hospital. He remains in a critical condition. Police searched the area following their arrival and found no evidence of any victims suffering from gunshot injuries. A crime scene was in place last night and officers from The Metropolitan Police’s Trident and Area Crime Command, which investigates gang related incidents in the capital are investigating.
This is the second violent incident to occur in the Stoke Newington area this week. On Monday evening a 34-year-old man was found stabbed to death on nearby Shakespeare Walk. Metropolitan Police were called to the area at roughly 17:48 GMT, the injured man was rushed to an East London hospital but tragically succumb to his injuries some hours later. On Tuesday evening, an 18-year-old man was murdered in Chislehurst, South London. Police and paramedics were called to Empress Drive at roughly 9pm. Upon arrival they found the injured man in the street, he was rushed to hospital but sadly died from his wounds at 8am on Wednesday morning. He was also believed to have been stabbed. The fatal stabbing of the teenager in Chislehurst is believed to be the 7th fatal stabbing in the capital in the last 11 days following the spate of knife crimes that was witnessed at the New Year. It doesn’t seem that there is not a single day that goes by now where a young person is not seriously injured or killed on the streets of London. How many more lives need to be lost before something is done about this.
